It is my objective to return the lost values of Classical Painting from the ‘Great Tradition,‘ back into peoples lives today. In the past, Classical Art played a huge part in peoples lives. As an example, when Raphael finished a painting, the whole city of Rome took a day’s holiday.
With the Renaissance and the Revival of Learning - Great Art lead human advancement in the development of mathematics, science, biology, astrology, invention and discovery as a few examples; it also lead with thought, philosophy, physiology and religious aspiration. It was always the voice of Conscience.
It therefore assisted the Reformation in confronting corruption in the church.
It aided the Romantics in close support of their natural humanist’s ideas and a number of Romantic poets were also painters.
And it ended with the Impressionists.
For unfortunately 20th century modern art failed to offer mankind any human benefit by comparison and has continued to the concern itself only with modern ideas of self.
It is not inspirational and does not offer ideals of humanity, justice and human values.
Nor is it concerned with beauty. And as it is not worked directly from honest observation from life, it cannot therefore offer any of these lost values for mankind which require a commitment to achieve beauty with a visual record of life through a continues improvement of craft and intellectual skills.

It is a sad reality and one I wish to change in the 21st century.
